Furstwurld

 Film/mentoring program

Local filmmakers making films on local entrepreneurs, culture bearers, elders and activists. In addition to our Furstwurld Cinema series we also offer a documentary program that helps mentor aspiring filmmakers who may not have access to other programs and schools.

Announcing The Elder Tree documentary and mentoring program – Honoring the life and wisdom of our Elders.

The Elder Tree is an anthology of short documentaries documenting the wisdom of our desert elders who have  journeyed through world crisis, illness, loss and healing.

The Elder Tree explores what it means to be human. Our elders have a lot to teach us about enduring change and handling life’s adversity.  It is the wisdom  of the elders that forms the spiritual foundation and the moral backbone of a community. We hope the Elder Tree series will also heal our viewers from the stereotyping and discrimination against individuals on the basis of their age.

A large part of this project is the mentoring program associated with it. Each documentary is designed as a practical hands-on mentoring opportunity for our local underserved youth interested in acquiring filmmaking skills, particularly those who cannot afford enrollment in a film school. Students are guided by local film professionals, from inception to completion, gaining practical experience and knowledge toward pursuing a career in film making.
